I wrote a post on May 3rd called Love Never Fails. It was about my husband. The occasion was our 27th Anniversary. I talked about how he lives 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. This is one of the main reasons why we have a great marriage. But, as amazing as my husband is, and as much as I love him, and as much as we love the Lord, our marriage takes regular maintenance, both scheduled and unscheduled.
We both have to do regular check-ups on our personal walks with the Lord. We also have to do regular check-ups on our relationship with the Lord as a married couple, We need to be certain that our Cord of 3 strands is holding strong. This is the regular maintenance.
There is plenty of unscheduled maintenance that goes on as well. This usually takes the form of what might be called tweaks. Times where he thought I was thinking one thing and I thought he was thinking the same thing and we forgot to be sure we were on the same track. Most of marriage maintenance comes down to COMMUNICATION. Being sure you are on the same page with each other. No games, no facades, just honest communication. That doesn’t sound too difficult does it?
