Five Minute Friday:Present
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to PRESENT your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Romans 12:1
I have read this verse so many times, but I have never thought about the time frame of this verse. The PRESENT. Here is the idea. We are called to PRESENT our lives as worship to the Lord right now. If we are living in the future or in the past we can’t be ready with our gift.
Today might seem very mundane to you. You may be headed to work wishing that it was already the weekend because your job has become, just a job. You may be running after your three year old, who discovered the dental floss while you were in the shower, and now has the entire house tied up. You may be living for the vacation you have planned in 2 weeks. The question is…are you PRESENT in the now? Are you ready to PRESENT your life as worship right now?
I am not really sure that I will be here after work today or after my vacation. I don’t know that when I decide I actually have time to work on my spiritual readiness, it won’t be too late.
I think what this verse told me today is that I need to be ready with my PRESENT now, in the PRESENT. So if God is sending me to work today, I better take Him with me. If I am untangling my dental flossed house today, I better have God very PRESENT. If I am living for my vacation that is two weeks away, I better rewind to today and get with God. The PRESENT is what we have. Tomorrow is a maybe. So take the gift of today and make it your PRESENT to the KING!
